Gulliver’s Creamed Corn

Gulliver’s restaurant in San Francisco was famous for their creamed corn. They freely shared this recipe, which is a favorite in our house:

2 10-oz packages frozen whole kernel corn

1 cup whipping cream

1 cup milk

1 tsp salt

6 tsp sugar

pinch white pepper

2 T melted butter

2 T flour

Combine corn, cream, milk, salt, sugar and pepper in heavy pot and bring to boil. Simmer 5 minutes. Blend butter and flour, add to corn mixture and stir well. Continue cooking until desired creaminess is achieved (5-10 minutes). Remove from heat and serve (enough for 8).
