Chicago,
Chicago...

It's not our hometown, but we made it ours for Spring Break 2003!

Spring Break fell late on the calendar this year. Snow skiing seemed iffy in theory (in reality, the Rockies enjoyed some great, late snow), and we’d just enjoyed beach fun on our holiday cruise to the Mexican Riviera. When we realized Craig would be making his third appearance at the American Bar Association’s annual Tech Show in Chicago, we put it to a vote. The kids and I wanted to go explore the Windy City!

Craig didn’t think much of our decision (mostly because he had to work while we played) and predicted bad weather would spoil our visit. But, we were ready for a big city break, and we invited Craig’s mother, Joan, to join us so she could visit her dear friend, Deani. Joan also planned a rendezvous with a Ball cousin.

As anticipated, it was 40s and 50s cold, wet and windy. The last day, it was 28 when we left Chicago and—reverse those numbers—82 when we landed in Houston. However, we made the most of our short stay, and everyone agreed: Chicago’s a place we’d love to see again…in the summer! Here’s what we did:
